Environment
We owe so much to nature, and we believe it is our responsibility to protect it through sustainable practices. Social and environmental responsibility is embedded in our values, shapes our decision-making and guides our long-term strategy. At Pettinatura di Verrone, we measure our responsibility through specific technical, social and environmental performance indicators.
Recycling
Waste water containing mainly organic matter and detergents is treated in our own water treatment plant.
A set of centrifuges extracts the wool grease from the waste water. Once refined the wool grease is used in the cosmetics industry (lanolin and derivatives), and in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries (cholesterol, vitamin E).
The mud and the sludge separated from the purified water are used as compost for farming.
Energy Efficiency
As part of our commitment to improving energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions, Pettinatura di Verrone has invested in a high-efficiency cogeneration plant. This system simultaneously generates electricity and captures useful heat and steam, which are reused within our production processes. By making better use of energy that would otherwise be wasted, we reduce both our environmental impact and our overall energy consumption.
